In One City – Pixie

This film is a modern day tale of the ‘Good Samaritan’. Pixie explains how she has combined her experiences of drug addiction and homelessness with her spirituality, to informally support people who are currently experiencing similar difficulties to the ones she has faced.

This film was produced as part of the In One City project, a community cohesion, social dialogue and filmmaking project working across Leeds to increase dialogue between diverse communities; explore unique cultural identities and shared values; challenge myths and perceptions and develop strategies for a peaceful and cohesive city.

In One City is a partnership between Together For Peace (a charity that seeks to strengthen communities through peace making) and Lippy People CIC (a voice and influence social enterprise).

At the heart of the project is collaborative film production that sees people building and sharing their stories with experienced social filmmakers. The films produced are then used to start difficult conversations between citizens in schools and within wider community settings.

This film is part of a series of 12 short films exploring faith, spirituality and social action. The series explores how people in Leeds interpret a statement made Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks ‘Society is a conversation scored for many voices’.
