Mansoor – In One City Leeds

Mansoor has been a volunteer at his local Mosque for a number of years and recently began the task of raising finance and developing plans for the building of a new Mosque that will work in harmony with an adjacent church in order to benefit the local community.

This film was produced as part of the In One City project, a community cohesion, social dialogue and filmmaking project working across Leeds to increase dialogue between diverse communities; explore unique cultural identities and shared values; challenge myths and perceptions and develop strategies for a peaceful and cohesive city.

In One City is a partnership between Together For Peace (a charity that seeks to strengthen communities through peace making) and Lippy People CIC (a voice and influence social enterprise).

At the heart of the project is collaborative film production that sees people building and sharing their stories with experienced social filmmakers. The films produced are then used to start difficult conversations between citizens in schools and within wider community settings.

This film is part of a series of 12 short films exploring faith, spirituality and social action. The series explores how people in Leeds interpret a statement made Chief Rabbi Lord Sacks ‘Society is a conversation scored for many voices’.
