4LS VIDEOSTORIES SUPPORT SUICIDE PREVENTION INITIATIVE

In February 2021 the ‘Life, Loss, Learning and Legacy’ Project (4Ls) was introduced to the Comms & Engagement team at Wakefield NHS CCG, who are behind a new incentive called the Staff Check In Campaign

The Check-In campaign aims to prevent staff suicide and promote a wellbeing culture by normalising the conversation around suicide and mental health as well as providing training, resources and signposting for support. This is a West-Yorkshire wide campaign that encompasses and supports all colleagues working and volunteering in organisations across the West Yorkshire and Harrogate Health and Care Partnership area.

7 Videostories were produced by storytellers in 2020 on the 4Ls Project, sharing their personal experiences of loss by suicide, and these can all be watched by visiting our Youtube Channel here:

These videos were watched by the the team behind #StaffCheckIn, who felt that their ‘bravery and honesty is so humbling'. The team asked if they could include the 7 4Ls Video Stories on the website, as well as part of the Check In campaign and in their weekly email bulletins, which are public facing reaching 200 people a week. The storytellers each agreed, saying ‘I hope it can help raise awareness of the impact of suicide on others’ and ‘I'm more than happy, the reason I did this project is to help others.’

Wakefield NHS CCG extend their 'thanks to all of the storytellers for allowing us to share their personal, brave and honest stories'. The 4Ls videos can now be seen on the WYH Partnership Website here:

Thank you, as always, to storytellers Steve, Paul, Darrell, Tracy, Julie, Hanka and Melanie.
